Eligibility Criteria for Admission
- A student will be allowed to take admission in the Single Major Single Minor Course of B.A./B.Sc. if he/she/transgender has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
- Provided that a candidate who has obtained:
- 55% marks in the aggregate, or
- 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in a subject / related subject in the last qualifying Examination
shall be eligible to apply for Single Major and Single Minor course in that subject.
- Admission shall however be on merit and availability of seats.

Provided that for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates, the minimum marks for eligibility
shall be as per Rules of the State Government:
- An SC/ST candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.
- An OBC-A/OBC-B candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination, qualifying marks not lower by more than 10% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.

Provided further that in matter of eligibility:
- 54.5% marks or above shall be equal to 55%
- 49.5% and above shall be equal to 50%
- 59.5 marks or above shall be equal to 60%
- As per the rules of the State Government SC/ST/OBC candidates migrating from other states will be treated as general candidates.

A student shall be allowed to take admission in the Multidisciplinary Course of B.A./B.Sc.
if he/she has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the
Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher
Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as
equivalent thereto.

A candidate shall be allowed to pursue B.A./B.Sc. Multidisciplinary Course if he/she
has passed the qualifying Examination in Vocational Stream subjects. Such students
shall have the option to study up to the end of 6th semester.
- For admission to the Undergraduate Program there should not be a gap of more than 3 years between the year of Higher Secondary Examination and the year of admission to the Undergraduate Program of study.

Candidates may note that the admission to any Course is provisional. If a candidate fails
to fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down by the University of North Bengal, the admission
shall stand cancelled at any stage.

The followings are the criteria for the preparation of the Merit Index in Single Major
Single Minor Course:

Merit = (Marks obtained in Major/related subject + Marks obtained in English +
Best marks obtained in other two subjects) / 4
for candidates who have applied in that Major course which the candidates have studied in the previous qualifying examination.

Merit = (Marks obtained in English + Best marks obtained in other three subjects) / 4
for candidates who did not have the subject opted for the Major Course in his/her previous qualifying examination.

The following is the criteria for the preparation of the Merit Index in Three Discipline
specific Multidisciplinary Course:
- Merit = (Marks obtained in English + Best marks obtained in other three subjects) / 4
I. Documents to be uploaded:
- Scan Copy of H.S. Mark Sheet.
- Madhyamik Admit Card / Certificate or Age Proof Certificate (Birth Certificate, etc.).
- Candidate’s own Caste / PH Certificate from appropriate authority as per Govt. Rule, if any.
- One passport size coloured photograph.
- Candidate’s Signature
